Kristin Nielsen, PhDPrincipal InvestigatorDr. Kristin Nielsen is an Assistant Professor at UTMSI, where her lab studies the toxicological effects of ubiquitous aquatic contaminants across levels of biological organization, with a focus on early life stage fish. Dr. Nielsen has also previously served as the State Toxicologist and Environmental Public Health Program Manager for the Alaska Division of Public Health, after which she accepted a position in the private sector as a Human Health and Ecological Risk Assessor.
|
Although Dr. Nielsen has experience evaluating risk for a wide range of environmental contaminants at sites around the world, her current practice is largely focused on evaluating the ecotoxicological risks of PFAS-contamination, and human health risks associated with contaminant exposure through subsistence fishing.
